Experience makes the difference…
Namaste and welcome to Byron Yoga Centre.

Established in 1988 by John Ogilvie, Byron Yoga Centre is one of the longest running yoga schools in Australia. Located directly opposite Belongil Beach (Byron Bay) the Centre offers daily general yoga classes of diverse styles as well as workshops, annual yoga and health retreats in Vietnam, and Australia’s first fully-accredited, 200 and 500 hour Yoga Alliance teacher training courses.

Byron Yoga Centre maintains a strong holistic philosophy to yoga that mirrors the essence of its birthplace. The Centre provides a wealth of experience for anyone considering yoga teacher training or simply wishing to advance their existing practice.

Our Approach

Yoga Poses Byron Bay

The art of yoga is a lot about giving and receiving. In some ways we only keep what we have by giving it away, which is one of the main motivations for teaching, and training others to teach.

Byron Yoga Centre’s approach highlights the holistic benefits of yoga and the yogic tradition, which are as relevant today as they were 3000 years ago when yoga first made its appearance in India.

Focusing on the physical asanas (postures) encourages better balance and awareness, in every sense. The Centre’s holistic approach to yoga encourages students of all levels to develop and expand their practice in order to build flexibility, strength and stamina of body, mind and spirit.

Primarily the aim is to keep the energy light, not too serious. The practice of yoga is intended to be joyful, to energise and calm, and to encompass the physical, emotional and spiritual aspects of the yogic tradition.
