Chanting with DAVE STRINGER - Kirtan Master
“A volcano of a voice!”  - LA Yoga Pages

Kirtan (from the Sanskrit word meaning “to sing”) is an East Indian form of mantra chanting that’s become popular as a participatory music experience at festivals around the world. As Dave says, at a kirtan “You’re not just listening to the music, you are the music.“

His sound marries the transcendent mysticism of traditional Indian instruments with the exuberant, groove-oriented sensibility of American gospel, and he is regarded as one of the most gifted singers in the genre.

Dave Stringer, who is also an accomplished composer and multi-instrumentalist, has a special ability to bring people together and inspire them to sing.

His work intends to create a modern and participatory theatrical experience out of the ancient traditions of kirtan and yoga, open to a multiplicity of interpretations, and accessible to all.

Date: Thursday 18th March

Sydney based Dancing Warrior Yoga will be presenting BIODANCE & YOGA a dynamic and sweaty weekend yoga workshop in Byron Bay, Anzac long weekend in April.

Biodance inspired by Nataraj - Lord Shiva, the god of yoga, represents the cosmic dancer and symbolizes the constant shifts of life and death in our cellular body. BIODANCE & YOGA arouses dormant energies in the heart, body and mind and defies any definition of a static and fixed body.

Dancing Warrior yoga has evolved over the past 10 years in Sydney’s Inner West and offers an eclectic mix of  dynamic Hatha yoga sequences, the use of mudras - physical shapes from nature, and free-form physical expression. Accompanying the practice is the delightful sounds of world music and Sydney based electronica.

About Mathew Bergan:

Mathew has been studying and teaching yoga for 15 years in Sydney and has practiced  Shadow Yoga, Yoga Synergy and Ashtanga Vinyasa. With a background in contemporary dance and choreography Mathew has evolved a yoga vocabulary that utilises the ancient Hatha yoga tradition for the modern day urban lifestyle. His workshops focus on moving prana and shakti (energy) through the body with uninhibited physical expression to create Trance like yogic intoxication.

If you are looking for a little more spice to ad to your yoga practice then don’t miss this workshop. In fact come and shake your asana to BIODANCE & YOGA this Anzac long weekend and expand the horizons of your heart, body and mind. This workshop is best suited to yogis with one years Hatha yoga experience. No dance experience necessary.
