Jacinta McEwen ND

Jacinta has been practicing the healing arts for over thirty years, working individually as well as facilitating workshops and trainings in Australia and overseas.

Initially trained as a Nurse, she went on to become a Naturopath, Herbalist, Massage Therapist, Yoga teacher and Ayurvedic Consultant. Jacinta is a founding partner in the thriving organic herbal dispensary, Mullumbimby Herbals, where she offers Naturopathic and Ayurvedic consultations, Massage & specialized Ayurvedic treatments like Shirodhara, and Khati Basti.

Jacinta runs workshops, and lectures, on a large range of health related topics including Women’s Health, Ayurveda, Yoga, and natural First Aid. She has a passion for spiritual growth as well as for physical and spiritual well being.

Leanne Moore

Leanne has spent most of her adult life exploring wholistic medicine, especially the art and science of Reflexology and Ayurvedic Medicine. She enjoys gently encouraging people to find wellbeing and peace of mind with Reflexology and Ayurveda at Harbour Health and Healing in Coffs Harbour. Leanne has spent many years as an educator, sharing these modalities. She has trained professional reflexologists in a Diploma of Reflexology and enjoys sharing her insights in post-graduate Reflexology workshops and retreats across Australia.

She also loves to faciliate Residential Retreats in Ayurveda, giving the opportunity for people to experience Ayurveda deeply.

This holistic weekend program offers students and yoga teachers the opportunity to be guided by John Ogilvie in delving deeper into all the elements of Purna Yoga – Asana, Breath, Meditation and Philosophy; and to advance their understanding of Mindfulness with Rob Ginnivan

Participants will benefit from a special session with John Ogilvie and Kristin Ginnivan exploring alignment, adjusting and correcting of asana, this is useful not just for yoga teachers but also students looking to refine their practice and particularly those considering signing on for a teacher training course. The hours from this weekend workshop can be used towards accreditation for current or imminent Level 1 or Level 2 teacher trainings.


John Ogilvie will present two sessions of pranayama and philosophy, focusing on the ethics of teaching yoga and looking at how to bring yogic principles into all aspects of life, merging ancient yogic philosophy with practical western ideas – all presented with his unique insight and humour.
 
 
 
 
 
 

Rob Ginnivan, a highly experienced Mindfulness Coach will lead guided meditation sessions plus workshops to help participants evolve their understanding and skill of being Mindful. His practical approach will impart valuable tools for students to practice being in the present moment and realise the potential for greater contentment.

 

 

 

Along with all this knowledge and practical advice, participants will also enjoy asana classes with John Ogilvie and Kristin Ginnivan. These will be suitable for all levels of students as, in the Purna style of alignment based hatha yoga, variations are offered for beginners through to the advanced.

This weekend is an exceptional opportunity to deepen your practice, expand your knowledge and create the potential for increased peace and contentment.

Purna Yoga Workshop

With over 25 years teaching experience, John Ogilvie’s Purna style is classical alignment focused hatha yoga with intelligent sequencing, combining this experience with the different styles of Ashtanga and Iyengar.
John will take participants through a 90 minute sequence, offering simple asanas for the less experienced, with options for those with more yoga.

4pm-5.30pm Arm-balances, inversions and Backbends

This dynamic workshop will progress from basic balances to experimenting with more challenging arm balances. The sequence will move onto the major inversions and backbends to fully awaken the spine.
Variations will be given for all levels - but you’ll be challenged to experiment, with an attitude of fun and joy - and surprised at the outcome!

$35 per session or $55 for both

An Introduction to Purna Yoga

A workshop suitable for all levels with John Ogilvie

 
This will be a 90 minute workshop, which would be suitable for everybody at all levels, even as an introduction to yoga for a first timer. In this class John will take participants through a 90 minute sequence, offering simple asanas for the less experienced, with options for those with more yoga experience to take each pose to a deeper level. There will be an emphasis on correct posture and alignment to keep beginners safe in the practice.
 
 
Suitable for all levels, John will always provide options so no student will be left out or unchallenged, while encouraging you with knowledge and humour.

With over 25 years teaching experience, John Ogilvie’s Purna Yoga classes combine the different styles of Iyengar and Ashtanga along with the energy principles of Aikido. 

Purna Yoga is alignment based classic hatha yoga and for this dynamic workshop John will flow through Level 3 asana, offering options for the less experienced and a few ‘ridiculous’ variations to challenge the advance practitioners!

Workshop 1: 11.30am-1pm Introduction to Purna Yoga (FULL)

Workshop 2: 1.30pm-3pm Inversions and backbends (ONLY 4 places left)

With the first two workshops almost booked out already, we are pleased to announce a third session with John Ogilvie. This workshop will focus on a whole variety of twists plus some deep hip openers. The perfect counter session to the backbends of the previous workshop. Participants will also be taken through some pranayama and meditation to complete and integrate the Purna Yoga experience.

 

There are only 24 spaces at each session so you can expect a focus on one-on-one adjustments and corrections. There are still a few places available in the Inversions and Backbends workshop, 1.30pm to 3pm but limited places so book now!

 

In the first workshop students will be taken through a Purna Yoga sequence. The focus is on alignment with intelligent sequencing and variations are given for different levels of practitioner.

The second session will progress from preparation handstand to experimenting with more challenging inversions. The workshop will then move onto the major backbends to fully awaken the spine. You’ll be challenged - and surprised at the outcome!
