Q: When are retreats scheduled in Byron Bay and overseas?
A: We offer retreats throughout the year, you can view current dates here. Please note that at other times of the year we offer teacher training courses and regular daily classes.
Q: How do I know if there are places available on a retreat?
A: We keep the home page regularly up to date regarding bookings and will add a comment regarding availability under each retreat date, eg. few places remaining or fully booked. If there is no comment please go ahead and complete the online registration form to secure your place. In the unlikely event that the retreat is already fully booked we will refund your deposit in full or transfer it to another retreat date as per your preference. Alternatively you can email the Retreats Manager to enquire about the date of your choice.
Q: How proficient in yoga do I need to be to join a retreat?
A: Our retreats are suitable for people of all levels including beginners. Each retreat includes either two yoga classes daily; the 6am class includes pranayama and meditation, and the 4pm class is more restorative. However this schedule may vary. You can join in as many or as few classes as you choose, there's no pressure to attend every class.

People with a foundation in the basic yoga postures as well as the more advanced are encouraged to join our retreats. An advanced practitioner is not necessarily a person who can move deeply into advanced postures; an advanced practitioner is someone who comes to the mat with a level of maturity, a willingness to learn and an understanding of the limits of their own body.

A retreat is also a great way to meet the people who teach during the training. You'll experience the ambience of the Byron Yoga Centre so that you feel confident in your choice of training with us. The training courses are designed for those who may not wish to be teachers at this stage of their yoga journey, but would like to deepen their own practice and experience of yoga.

A: There are some simple guidelines to help create a sattvic (yogic) environment, conducive to the retreat experience. Retreat participants are expected to be vegetarian, and cigarette, drug and alcohol free.
Q: Am I expected to attend all classes and sessions, or is the schedule flexible?
A: The retreat schedule is completely flexible. Although we encourage you to immerse yourself in the retreat experience and join in all the yoga classes and the afternoon and evening sessions, you are free to join in as much or as little as you prefer.
It's important to listen to your own body and attend what feels right for you, for many people two classes daily is more than usual and we suggest you find the balance between challenging yourself and being gentle when necessary. There is no pressure to attend all yoga classes and you can create your own unique retreat experience within the schedule offered.
Q: How many yoga classes are there each day?
A: On the arrival day, Saturday, there is a 4pm yoga class. On the departure day, Friday, there is a 6am yoga class. All other days on our yoga retreats Sunday - Thursday include two yoga classes daily. The 6am class is more dynamic and includes pranayama and meditation, the 4pm class is more restorative. As the schedule is flexible you can create your own free time during the retreat at other times if you feel this is what you need.
Q: There is one complimentary massage included in the yoga retreat, can I book additional wellness treatments?
A: Yes, a range of therapists offering different healing modalities will be available during the retreat. You can book additional treatments and pay the therapists directly.
