This 25 hour retreat style training program will offer you the opportunity to explore a variety of meditation techniques and to gain an understanding of methods for teaching them to others. You will also enjoy asana classes and philosophy sessions with senior teachers and benefit from time to relax at Byron Yoga Retreat Centre.
Byron Yoga Centre’s 50 and 25 hour Modular Trainings are designed to be standalone specialty courses as well as being applicable as part of your 200 or 300 certificates. They fit particularly well as part of a Level 2 300 hour course. You could choose to do the Byron Yoga Centre Level 2 and also participate, before or after, in one or several of the Modular Trainings to gain some hours required for certification. These modular course hours can also be used for the ongoing professional development required each year by Yoga Alliance and other professional bodies. Or you could just do one because you want to learn more!

Meditation Teacher Training: Explore meditation, philosophy and self
Byron Yoga Centre’s 4 day Meditation Teacher Training led by Davina Kruse and senior teachers is for yoga teachers, trainees and experienced practitioners wishing to deepen their own meditation practice and knowledge of yogic philosophy. You will also learn methods to effectively guide and teach others. The program is a combination of practical classes and theoretical sessions plus time to reflect and integrate the knowledge and your experiences.
This 25 hour training will provide you with the skills to add meditation techniques to your teaching tools and it will also offer you the time to explore your own direct understanding of meditation and philosophy. Be guided by senior teachers in a variety of meditation methods and enjoy delving into key yogic text.
As well as adding to your teaching tools, you will improve your ability to sit and you are likely to experience valuable insights that could lead to a deeper understanding of your mind and Self.
Meditation Teacher Training Course Details
This 25 hour retreat style training program is an opportunity to deepen your practice and, for those who are teaching or training to teach yoga – to add meditation as an integral element to their classes. There will also be asana and pranayama classes and sessions on yogic philosophy, which makes this course suitable and interesting for experienced practitioners.
Each day begins with the opportunity to deepen your own practice with an early morning asana, pranayama and meditation class under the guidance of senior Byron Yoga Centre teachers, including John Ogilvie and Davina Kruse.
Between breakfast and lunch you will engage in a program of theoretical and practical sessions to explore meditation techniques, tools for effective teaching methods and key philosophy concepts from the authentic ancient texts.
The meditation techniques covered will include single focus such as breath, Buddhist practices including Metta (loving kindness) and walking meditations plus Mantra / Japa chanting. You will be encouraged to explore and reflect on the techniques from both a personal and teaching point of view. The philosophy sections will be taken from the key yogic texts such as the Yoga Sutras and The Bhagavad Gita and sessions will look into the wisdom that supports the practices and the science of the self.
After lunch there is free time to relax by the pool, enjoy a massage (additional cost), go to the beach or explore the town. There is the option to use the time for self-practice, self-study or for self-reflection. We encourage you to journal during the training to connect to and record your experiences.
At 4pm there will be the option of a class that combines yin or restorative yoga with a longer sit. The teacher will take you through a sequence of relaxing poses to ease you towards the ultimate asana – a comfortable and stable seat. These classes are designed to impart methods to further build your teaching skills through experiential learning. After a delicious dinner prepared with fresh ingredients from the Byron Yoga Centre organic gardens, the 7pm evening sessions are a chance for deep relaxation with guided meditations, restorative pranayama and Yoga Nidra.

Participants receive a certificate of completion that can be counted as 25 hours toward Level 1 or Level 2 certifications. Hours can be counted as CPD (Continuous Professional Development) as required by Yoga Alliance.
Note: A manual will be provided but there are no assessments or online requirements for this course (yay!).
