Upgrade your existing teaching qualifications with Byron Yoga Centre’s Level 2 Part Time course conducted over 10 weeks for 2 days each week (non residential).  This course consists of Part A – some pre-course preparation, Part B – 10 weeks of 2 days each week with sessions held in Byron Bay. Students also complete a correspondence component (Part C) in your own time and can mainly be done during the 10 week period. All parts are included in the course fee.

Non-Byron Yoga Centre Level 1 Graduates must complete the Conversion Course, approx 40 hours, prior to embarking on Level 2. Email  admin@byronyoga.com to register.

Part A, B and C combined total the 300 hours for Level 2 that can be added to your existing Level 1 qualification to comprise the 500 hour certification recognized by Yoga Alliance hours and eligibility to be recognized by Yoga Australia.  The Byron Yoga Centre Level 2 course was one of the first Australian Yoga Teacher Training courses accredited by Yoga Alliance as a 500 hour ERYT. This represents a very high qualification in yoga teaching that is recognised both in Australia and internationally, and you can be assured that by training with Byron Yoga Centre you’re in experienced hands.

Please note that this course is open to graduates of any accredited Level 1 ( 200 hour) course. Non Byron Yoga Centre graduates will be required to do approx 40 hours of the Conversion Course.

The Byron Yoga Centre Level 2 Part Time Teacher Training Course is designed to deliver our characteristic holistic approach to training that encompasses the physical, emotional and spiritual aspects of the yogic path. Guided by our knowledgeable and friendly teaching staff, in this comprehensive course, we’ll be covering the following areas:

  • Level 2 Asana techniques, alignment, modifications and variations
  • Teaching Methodology for intermediate yoga classes
  • In-depth adjusting and correcting students
  • Advanced Sequencing for classes and private students
  • Level 2 Applied Anatomy and Physiology
  • Level 2 Yoga Philosophy, focus on Yoga Sutras
  • Learn to teach pranayama and meditation
  • Ayurveda, yogic health and lifestyle tools
  • Refining your teaching skills with ‘real life’ practice teaching opportunities from day 1

Part A: Pre-course preparation

The preparation / study for the Part Time Level 2 Teacher Training Course begins  approx 4-8 weeks before course commencement date. Students are required to complete pre-course online study and preparation exercises.

Non Byron Yoga Centre Level 1 graduates (those with other accredited Level 1 courses) will need to complete the Conversion Course, approx 40 hours, prior to embarking on Level 2. Email admin@byronyoga.com to register. This will include becoming familiar with the Purna Yoga style though our DVDs and online units. Skype sessions will be arranged with our trainers to support you in your learning.

Our Byron Yoga Centre Level 1 graduates can choose to undertake just 30 hours pre-course prep and then to complete the required 300 hours during the 10 week program or in their own time.

Part B: Studio Sessions

Over the 10 weeks, in the 2 days each week of practical and lecture sessions you will be guided in the following:

  • Level 2 Asana teaching techniques, alignment, modifications and variations

  • Advanced Sequencing for classes and private students
  • Women’s health, pre and post natal yoga
  • Level 2 Applied Anatomy and Physiology

  • Learn to teach pranayama and meditation
  • Ayurveda, yogic health and lifestyle tools
  • Refining your teaching skills with ‘real life’ practice teaching opportunities from day 1

Part C: Online and practical

Part C is undertaken in your own time and can be completed over the 10 week period or afterwards at a personal pace. It comprises the maintaining of a personal journal of self-practice and of teaching experience plus some online study. If needed you can continue the study and complete the course after the final weekend.

Under the guidance of veteran yoga teachers, John Ogilvie and Kara Goodsell the teaching staff on this course are experienced and dedicated. You’ll be inspired by our resident and guest yoga teachers alike, who ‘walk their talk’, living the yoga lifestyle, and are all knowledgeable and passionate about their subjects. All are passionate about supporting you in your continuing yoga journey.
