The first session is an all levels introduction to the Purna Yoga style – classical alignment focused hatha yoga, developed by John Ogilvie over his 28 years experience with the different styles of Ashtanga and Iyengar. John will take participants through a 90 minute Purna sequence, offering variations for the less experienced and for those with more yoga years.

In the break students will be offered chai and teas and have the opportunity for an informal discussion with John about becoming a yoga teacher.

In the second session this dynamic workshop will progress from basic balances to experimenting with more challenging arm balances. The sequence will move onto the major inversions and backbends to fully awaken the spine. Variations will be given for all levels – but you’ll be challenged to experiment, with an attitude of fun and joy!

This three hour workshop will start with an 1.5 hour asana class. After a gentle warm up with Viv Speers, John Ogilvie will take students through a dynamic Purna Yoga sequence. While this will predominantly be a Level 2 / 3 class options will be given for less advanced students and those working with injuries. The sequence will be designed to open the heart and balance the chakras.

After a short break John will present a session incorporating the other elements of Purna Yoga – philosophy, pranayama and meditation. The focus of this session will be a discussion on the 8 limbs philosophy of Ashtanga Yoga and this theme will be continued in the final segment. John will facilitate and interactive session looking at the path of the yoga teacher, how to walk the talk of yoga and how Byron Yoga Center can assist you in your yoga journey.

Join this masterclass with Byron Yoga Centre founder John Ogilvie to explore a dynamic sequence of Level 2/3 Purna Yoga poses. . The sequence will be designed to open the heart and balance the chakras.

Although the session will feature some challenging asana, John will ensure the sequence is suitable for all levels of students as, in the Purna style of alignment based hatha yoga, variations are offered for beginners through to the advanced.

This session is a chance for Purna teacher trainees and graduates to delve deeper in to the parameters of Purna Yoga and it’s also an opportunity for those not familiar with Purna Yoga to discover its appeal, and John Ogilvie’s charismatic delivery.

In this dynamic session John Ogilvie will take students through a Level 2/3 Purna Yoga sequence. The sequence will be designed to open the heart and balance the chakras.

Options will be given for those with less experience or for those working with injuries and limitations but the focus will be on working to your edge and experimenting with some more advanced asana.

John will include all the elements of Purna Yoga with a short meditation and pranayama practice to complement the asana sequence. He will thread key yogic principles and philosophy into the session to offer students a comprehensive masterclass and holistic learning experience – all delivered with his unique insight and humour.

This holistic weekend program offers students and yoga teachers the opportunity to be guided by John Ogilvie in delving deeper into all the elements of Purna Yoga – Asana, Breath, Meditation and Philosophy; and to advance their understanding of Mindfulness with Rob Ginnivan.

For those don’t have time to join the whole weekend, we are offering the option of coming for one of the days or for just the 8am to 10am meditation and asana segment.

Participants who are with us on Saturday will benefit from a special session with John Ogilvie and Kristin Ginnivan exploring alignment, adjusting and correcting of asana, this is useful not just for yoga teachers but also students looking to refine their practice and particularly those considering signing on for a teacher training course. John Ogilvie will present two sessions of pranayama and philosophy, focusing on the ethics of teaching yoga and looking at how to bring yogic principles into all aspects of life, merging ancient yogic philosophy with practical western ideas – all presented with his unique insight and humour.

Rob Ginnivan, a highly experienced Mindfulness Coach will lead guided meditation sessions plus workshops to help participants evolve their understanding and skill of being Mindful. His practical approach will impart valuable tools for students to practice being in the present moment and realise the potential for greater contentment.

 

 

 

 

Along with all this knowledge and practical advice, participants will also enjoy asana classes with John Ogilvie and Kristin Ginnivan.
