$5K Scholarship to Study Yoga

Applications open November 1, 2025.

To apply you will need to complete a form, explaining in 400-500 words

• Why you would like to undertake this 1 year training,
• How you think you will benefit from it and
• How you will share the skills and knowledge with your community

You will also be asked to include your name, age (you must be over 18), nationality, where you are currently living, your yoga experience (minimum 120 hours of yoga instruction – this can be attending classes or practicing online) and confirm your level of English (minimum IELTS 6.0).

Applications close MIDNIGHT 30th November 2025.

The winner will be announced via our Instagram page @bycaustralia on Friday 12 December 2025.

The scholarship places will be available for any of the Byron Bay intakes that start in 2026 (27 Jan, 20 April, 13 July or 05 Oct 2026) – subject to availability of places at the time of application.

If you are considering doing the course even if you do not win the scholarship, we suggest you apply and make the payment required for your acceptance. If you are successful in gaining the scholarship we will refund any fees paid to Byron Yoga Centre.

Applications close midnight 30 November 2025.

Entries will be placed before a panel including our CEO and owner John Ogilvie, our International Student Relations Manager Michelle O’Connell, and our Head Teacher Trainer Marita Dortins and a shortlist will be determined.

The entry form must be completed to be considered.

Any AI generated responses will not be considered.

Any responses which fall outside of 400-500 words will not be considered.

Our goal at Byron Yoga Centre is to change the world by spreading yoga to every town and village. We want to extend this opportunity to someone whose vision is aligned with ours, however circumstances may prevent them from pursuing formal studies with us. Our shortlist will be in line with this. 

A short list of finalists will be contacted after 30 November 2025 and these applicants will have the opportunity to present their essay via video call.

The winner of the scholarships will be selected and announced via our Instagram page @bycaustralia on Friday 12 December 2025 and all applicants will be notified of the winner via email by the end of December 2025.

(Byron Yoga Centre reserves the right not to award the scholarship if there are no suitable applicants).

No correspondence will be entered into in regards to the selection process or individual applications.

International students will need to apply for a student visa once they have been accepted into the course. Student visas allow up to 48 hours of work per fortnight. No responsibility is taken by Byron Yoga Centre for obtaining the visa. Australian citizens can apply for Austudy. No responsibility is taken by Byron Yoga Centre for obtaining Austudy. If the student is not granted Austudy and decides not to take the scholarship, it will not be awarded.

Byron Yoga Centre staff and their family members cannot apply for the scholarship.
