Why this retreat?

Modern life asks a lot of men.

Pressure at work.
Responsibility at home.
Constant mental load.

Most of us were never taught how to work with our internal world – how to manage stress, regulate our nervous system, or understand what’s actually going on in our own minds.

This retreat gives you practical techniques you can use every day.

Meet your Hosts

With years of life, fatherhood, relationship and yoga teaching experience between them… Ross Adams and Dan Stephenson have your back, are at your service, and will be your humble guides for this weekend.

Ross has a love for sharing the ancient wisdom teachings of Yoga and Mindfulness, teachings that have profoundly changed the course of his own life. His favourite thing is when others feel for themselves the healing, nourishing and transformative effects of these simple and time tested practices and principles. He is particularly passionate about helping to facilitate mental wellbeing.

Ross qualified as a yoga teacher in 2013 joining the Byron Yoga Centre team in 2016 where he continues to facilitate retreat groups to this day.

He has completed a Post-Graduate Diploma in Yoga Therapy with world renowned teacher and yoga therapist Dr N. Chandrasekaran, as well as trainings in various meditation techniques, Yin Yoga, Restorative Yoga, Trauma Aware Yoga, Zen Thai Shiatsu massage, and Reiki.

Ross loves swimming in the ocean, enjoying yoga, meditation, and good food… learning, teaching, playing, and walking…and enjoying time with his wife Mariana, their two sons Benji and Jesse, and their cat Shanti, in the Northern Rivers of New South Wales, Australia.

Dan enjoys teaching an alignment-based flow, working with the energy in the room. He weaves in breath, meditation and philosophy, encouraging his students to deepen their practice, from purely physical exercise, to embrace an overall yogic lifestyle.

He is passionate about sharing the knowledge he has learnt over many years. Having completed his first Level 1 training in India in 2017 Dan has since undertaken his Level 2 with Byron Yoga Centre plus completed an Acro Yoga teacher training in 2018. He loves seeing people grasp new concepts and become confident with new skills. This in-turn has helped deepen his love these practices.

Dan has a profound interest in Eastern philosophies and has studied many different modalities including Reiki, studying Tai Chi at a Chinese Shaolin temple, learning about Buddhism and meditation while living in a Buddhist monastery, and travelling across India to study different forms of Yoga.

The schedule is flexible and open to change according the group’s needs and dynamics (and weather!)

The yoga is a system we call Purna, a traditional hatha style with an emphasis on correct alignment and intelligent sequencing. Purna translates as complete or whole and this is reflected in the premise that we teach not just the physical postures but also an integrated approach with breath awareness (pranayama), meditation and philosophy. With the Purna system students can work at their own level, options are given for variations and modifications allowing for beginners to practice alongside experienced students.

FAQs.

Nope. This retreat is designed for men of all levels. Just bring a willingness to show up and try new practices.

That’s exactly why you’re here. You’ll be guided step by step, and the tools you learn are practical — not about getting it “perfect.”

Comfortable clothes for movement, a water bottle, notebook if you like, and an open mind. Everything else — mats, props, and healthy meals — are provided.

Not at all. Gentle movement is included to release tension and improve mobility. It’s accessible, restorative, and focused on supporting your body.

Yes. Men’s circles are a core part of the retreat — honest, pressure-free spaces to listen, share, and build friendships.

Absolutely. This retreat is designed to give you space to slow down, reset, and recharge — both physically and mentally.
