Deepen your practice and further your skills

Byron Yoga Centre’s 4 day Advanced Asana Workshops and Training is for yoga teachers, Byron Yoga Centre graduates, current trainees and advanced practitioners looking to deepen their practice and to gain teaching skills through this experiential learning opportunity.

Ideal for Level 2 trainees seeking to complete the hours for their 300 hour certification and Level 1 graduates who are looking to boost their teaching proficiency by delving more deeply into their own practice. The 25 hours from this course can be used towards your certification, or for teachers – your on-going professional development hours.

This experiential training will focus on giving you the insights and understanding to extend the platform of your teaching. The sessions will be a vibrant mix of advanced classes and special workshops on inversions, arm-balances and backbends with Byron Yoga Centre’s most senior teachers.

By participating in advanced asana classes, furthering your meditation and pranayama practice plus attending the special focus asana workshops and anatomy sessions you will not only have a greater breadth of experience but also the tools to share this knowledge with others.

Advanced Asana Workshops and Training Course Details

You will enjoy early morning and afternoon asana, meditation and pranayama classes with experienced Byron Yoga Centre teachers, offering advanced sequences of Level 2 and Level 3 poses (options are always given for less experienced and those with injuries).

The morning program between breakfast and lunch will feature a series of theoretical and practical workshops designed to explore specific areas: inversions, arm-balances and backbends. These will be aimed at deepening your knowledge of applied anatomy, sequencing plus variations, modifications and use of props for the primary asana poses within each area.

In the practical sessions you will improve your own technique and proficiency, enabling you to build skills that will help you teach the poses to others. All sessions will be experiential with practical elements and give you a solid foundation on which to build your teaching methods.

After lunch you will have some free time to relax by the pool, enjoy a massage (cost applies), go to the beach or explore the town. You could also choose to use the time for self-practice, self-reflection or self-study.

Then at 4pm the program will offer a yin yoga or a restorative class. The teacher will take you through a sequence of poses while explaining some of the theory behind the method, further adding to your teacher tool kit.

At the end of the day you will enjoy an amazing dinner prepared with fresh ingredients from the Byron Yoga Centre organic gardens – a highlight for many! Then the 7pm evening sessions are a chance for deep relaxation with guided meditations, restorative pranayama and relaxing Yoga Nidra.
