Not all yoga teacher trainings are the same. While many yoga courses are designed to support personal practice and self-development, the 11351NAT Certificate IV in Yoga Teacher Training at Byron Yoga Centre is a nationally recognised yoga teacher training qualification, created specifically to prepare students to teach yoga professionally.
Here’s what makes ours different.
Designed and Delivered Exclusively by Byron Yoga Centre
Our Certificate IV includes units designed by John Ogilvie, founder and CEO of Byron Yoga Centre. These units reflect decades of teaching experience and are grounded in the realities of teaching yoga in real communities.
This qualification can only be delivered by Byron Yoga Centre — no other Registered Training Organisation offers this course. While we are an RTO, we are also one of Australia’s longest-running yoga schools, with yoga at the heart of everything we do.
A Yoga Teacher Training — Not Just a Yoga Course
Many yoga courses focus primarily on personal practice. While personal practice is an important part of the journey, the primary purpose of the 11351NAT Certificate IV is to develop competent, confident yoga teachers.
Throughout the course, the focus is on:
- Practical teaching skills
- Class planning, sequencing, and cueing
- Communication and professional conduct
- Client relationships and ethical teaching
- Small business and administrative skills relevant to yoga teachers
This structure supports students to move beyond being a yoga student and into the role of a yoga teacher.
Teaching Real Community Classes
A defining feature of this course is the opportunity to teach classes to members of the public during the training.
Teaching real community classes allows students to:
- Build confidence in a real-world setting
- Work with diverse bodies and abilities
- Receive feedback from experienced teachers
- Develop teaching skills gradually and safely
This hands-on teaching experience is often missing from general yoga courses and is a core part of this qualification.
Immersed in a Yoga Environment
All training is delivered face-to-face at our town studio and retreat centre.
Students are immersed in a yoga environment during their study hours — every day is spent in a dedicated yoga space rather than a generic classroom. This supports embodied learning and helps integrate theory, practice, and teaching skills more deeply.
Clear Pathways to International Recognition
Byron Yoga Centre is a Registered Yoga School with Yoga Alliance. The 11351NAT Certificate IV incorporates our 200-hour and 300-hour yoga teacher training programs.
Graduates are eligible to become:
- RYT200, or
- RYT500
with Yoga Alliance — an internationally recognised certification widely regarded as the global standard for yoga teachers. You can learn more about this here.
